Micah Evans
Micah Evans is a self taught artist from the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in the Pacific Northwest. He found glass in the late 1990's and hasn't looked back since. Before moving to Austin and settleing into Flameworks, Micah spent the last two years as a resident artist and visiting instructor at the University of Miami. He has had the fortune to be the studio assistant for William Carlson for the last year and a half. William Carlson is widely believed to be one of the founders of the studio glass movement in America.
A year focusing on learning and introspection has come to an end and Micah has buried himself in his own work once again. His work is a balance of fluid organic sculpture as well as traditional craft. His new work focuses on tradition; tradition in glass and tradition in family. With his work always changing and evolving a true self-portrait of the ebbs and flows of an artist is evident.
